Alessandro Baldessari

Alessandro Baldessari

Composer, producer and sound designer. He graduated from the Faculty of Musicology in Cremona and obtained a diploma in Audio Technologies with Musical Address at the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado in Milan.

He started working as a sound engineer in Milan and then moved to England at Real World Studios in 2014, an experience that led him to work with Italian and international artists. Since 2015 he has been sound engineer and assistant to composer Will Gregory, who he follows in numerous live and studio projects: from the latest album by the electro pop band Goldfrapp, to documentaries for the BBC to the film Arcadia by Paul Wright, presented at the BFI London Film Festival.

Always interested in the influences between electronic pop and art music, sound manipulation and its relationship with space, he is involved in projects in different fields. Recently: the music and sound design for the installations of the exhibition “Catch it! Got it!” by the artist Jessica Rimondi at the Space Station Gallery in London; the music for the show The Last Tape by Krapp from the work of Samuel Beckett, in collaboration with the composer Pietro Dossena; the song Sub Human composed for three subwoo- fer, which was played for the first time this year at the Canadian Music Centre in Toronto.

He is currently working on a sound design project applied to Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Nabucco, commissioned by Ravenna Festival, directed by Cristina Mazzavillani Muti. The work involves the use of a three-dimensional diffusion system, thanks to which the elements of sound design will be spatialized inside the theater.
